Poem – Our father in fictional/made-up Old-Germanic language

September 19, 2013

Vars fadru sî werrun i himmla,

thine nimma werrun hellagun,

thine kunrîkan ska kumma, thi vaula ska reiman,

glika i himmla isan so po irdan werru.

Gyîvt varsa nuu vars deiga glaivu

i weggyîvt varsa vars skûldan

glika raiman wîî weggyîvtan vars skûldenan.

Lidra varsa reik i tûflanswaich,

weis wegfrida vars fru quala.

For fru thine werrun kunrîkan raiman krachnun

i hlyachtan, tolls i alla taidan.

translation

Our Father, Who art in heaven,
Hallowed be Thy Name.
Thy Kingdom come.
Thy Will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven. Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation (devils way in text),
but deliver us from evil. Amen.
